I saw a blurb a number of years back that said mummies MAY have atherosclerosis. I was shocked. But, in the same article it was said that more study needed to be done to find out how extensive it was. I had the thought pass through my mind recently and I looked it up. Again, I was shocked. The study showed that out of 42 mummies who COULD BE STUDIED, 20 of them had atherosclerosis. These mummies died around 1580 B.C.!!!!

Atherosclerosis is a disease in which plaque builds up inside your arteries. Arteries are blood vessels that carry oxygen-rich blood to your heart and other parts of your body.
Plaque is made up of fat, cholesterol, calcium, and other substances found in the blood. Over time, plaque hardens and narrows your arteries. This limits the flow of oxygen-rich blood to your organs and other parts of your body.
So, I encourage you to open the attached study and read it for yourself. This is NOT scientific mumbo-jumbo that you cannot understand. It's very easy to read the overall conclusions. If you like reading studies, go ahead and read the hard data in the body of the release.
What does this mean for meat eaters?
In my opinion, this flies in the face of the Paleo Diet advocates assertions that they have the healthiest diet for longevity and survival. It shows that NO MATTER HOW ORGANIC YOUR MEAT IS you still can and most likely will form plaque in your arteries that could lead to heart attacks and stroke. The chemicals in the feed fed to farm animals is not to blame for arterial plaque. Chemicals being sprayed of the feed is not forming the plaque. And, smoking (as one of my health care professional friends claims), does not itself cause arterial plaque. We know that dietary cholestorol does. Do you question that???! If you are not reducing your intake of meat and dairy, please do so. All people do NOT need 3 meals of meat and dairy. The WHO (World Health Organization) says humand need between 7 & 9% protien to maintain health. Plants provide that easily and cheaply. The best results for your health are shown to be elimination of both meat products and dairy products.
